Indonesian Plantain Wrap (Pisang Molen)

Indonesian Plantain Wrap (Pisang Molen)
My own original recipe.
Prep Time: 30 minutes / Cook Time 15 minutes


2 ripe plantains
2 cups all purpose flour
4 tbsp butter - room temperature
1 egg
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp water
Some salt to taste
vegetable oil to deep fry


In a large bowl, mix the flour, butter, egg, sugar, pinch of salt and water.  Then knead until they're smooth.  Dust the counter top with some flour and roll the dough into a long thin 1 1/2 inches wide.

Peel and cut the plantain in half and cut each diagonally about 2 and 1/2 inches.  Wrap the plantains with the rolled dough and deep fry them in hot oil over medium heat until golden (similar to the picture above).  Serve with a drizzle of chocolate.
