How to Make Dim Sum Fish and Shrimp Siu Mai

Fish and Shrimp Siu Mai
This is how you make delicious fresh Dim Sum Siu Mai.  You make it fresh yourself and it's so easy to do.  Just follow the ingredients and directions below.

My own original recipe.
Prep Time: 20 minutes / Cook Time 15 minutes

Easy Delicious Fish and Shrimp Siu Mai

  • 1 medium basa fillet
  • 1/4 cup skinless shrimp
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Pepper powder
  • Wonton wrapper/skin
Cooking Directions:
  1. Wash the basa fillet, dry it up with a paper towel, and use a spoon to take the meat fillet out from its fiber.  (See the picture below on what it should look like when done).
  2. Chop the shrimp and place them into a bowl with the meat of basa fillet, then add all the ingredients together.
  3. On a dry cutting board or using your palm, place the wonton wrapper and spoon some of the mixed stuffing into it. 
  4. Start working around the edge of wonton skin by pressing it up.  Make a hole with your index finger and thumb, put the siu mai in the hole and press it to make it tighter and to get the size you want.
  5. Place and steam the siu mai for 15 minutes in a bamboo steamer or just use a plate or even use a steamer in a rice cooker. 
  6. Serve with your favorite soy sauce or chili sauce and sit back and enjoy this dim sum siu mai at home.
